Frenkel ERS is comprised of individuals with environmental consulting, insurance and legal backgrounds. All are seasoned professionals in the environmental insurance industry, with a combined 40+ years history in the business.


Dan Borgna

Dan is the Director of the Frenkel Environmental Risk Services department with offices in New York and Los Angeles. This department is responsible for brokering Property & Casualty lines of insurance specifically for environmental consultants, contractors and laboratories. Collectively Frenkel represents over 375 of these firms. Dan has over 11 years experience in the environmental insurance industry specifically dealing with Property & Casualty brokerage, environmental loss control and claims management.

Prior to joining Frenkel, Dan worked for Travelers Insurance Company in the Special Liability Group in Farmington, CT. During his time as an Account Manager in the Leaking Underground Storage Tank Division, Dan was responsible for investigating legal liability arising from soil and groundwater contamination while making coverage determinations against General Liability policies. Losses ranged from residential to Superfund sites as they apply to policies issued by Travelers, Aetna and Gulf Insurance Company.

Dan also worked for Envision Claims Management, a specialty division of Crum and Forster Insurance Company in Morristown, NJ. While there, Dan handled the liability investigation, insurance coverage and legal liability of environmental property damage and bodily injury losses arising from pollution, asbestos, lead-paint and hazardous chemical exposure for 4 different insurance companies. (Crum & Forster, ACE Insurance Group, North River Insurance Company, and International Insurance Company)

Dan is a member of the Environmental Business Council of New Jersey as well as the National Underwriters Association. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Forest Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono and maintains a New Jersey Property and Casualty License.

Rich Jakucs is a Vice President of Frenkel Environmental Risk Services Team and based in New York City. Rich comes to Frenkel Insurance Advisors with over ten years in the environmental industry. During this time, Rich worked in all facets of the environmental industry including hazardous waste disposal, remediation and clean ups of contaminated sites, and consulting and regulatory issues. Prior to joining Frenkel, Rich served as a Vice President of Meeker Sharkey, where his responsibilities included structuring and marketing environmental risk programs.

Rich holds a CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) designation at a Masters level and has been recognized by Who’s Who in the Environmental Industry and the Insurance Industry. He has worked with a number of Fortune 100, firms assisting them with environmental issues. Some of these included the deactivation of explosive chemicals for ICI Americas. This job won praise from the ICI personnel for its safety. He also oversaw the clean up and disposal of the EPA’s Publicker site in Philadelphia, Pa, one of the EPA’s most notorious superfund sites on the east coast. This was recognized by the EPA’s technological office as an example of innovative technology and disposal methods. Rich also cleaned up American Cyanamid, New Jersey's largest privately funded clean up of a hazardous waste site.

Rich has been published and speaks regularly on the topic of Environmental Insurance and is a recognized industry expert. Recently his article, Examining the Role of Insurance in developing Environmentally Contaminated Properties, appeared in the industry publication, Waste Dynamics Northeast.

Rich is a graduate of Villanova University and holds a Masters degree in International Business from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird Campus, in Phoenix, Arizona. Rich is the former Treasurer of Lutheran Social Mission Society, a large Philadelphia charity organization.

Rich is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve having served for 22 years. He currently commands an Environmental Emergency Response Unit in New Jersey.

A 12 year veteran of environmental risk management, Mr. Greenman offers solid technical expertise along with practical environmental insurance underwriting experience. Specializing in industrial facility, Brownfields, real estate and property transfer underwriting, Mr. Greenman came to Frenkel Environmental Risk Services after a seven year tenure at ECS, an XL Capital Company where he was a Senior Underwriter in the Industrial and Commercial Facilities underwriting division. Besides underwriting at ECS, Mr. Greenman also acted as their Engineering Supervisor, a role which coordinated both underwriting due diligence activities as well as bundled value-added loss control services for ECS clients with internal engineering staff and contracted consultants.

Prior to joining ECS, Mr. Greenman worked as an environmental consultant for working on projects varying from EPA regional enforcement support to private client environmental due diligence and field investigations.

Mr. Greenman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Delaware.


John H. Foissett, Jr.

John is the Commercial Automobile Claims Representative in Frenkel’s New York office.  He also handles first-party Commercial Property claims for National Accounts.  John is a licensed adjuster in New York and New Jersey.  Before joining Frenkel, John worked for several years at a national insurance carrier as a Claim Adjuster and Appraiser.  His experience includes claim handling, pursuing subrogation and participation at arbitration hearings.  John also was a Hearing Officer with Arbitration Forums.  He is studying for the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation.

Jim has 20 years of casualty claims handling and management experience.  Jim began his career as a multi-line claims adjuster with Liberty Mutual in 1985.  Prior to coming to Frenkel in 2005, Jim worked for Continental Insurance Company, Reliance National and most recently, Zurich North America, as a services account executive.  For the past nine years, Jim has serviced large account clients across North America.  He received his Bachelors Degree in 1984 from Kean College of NJ.
