Meredith has more than 14 years experience in the environmental industry working for both consulting firms and law firms in matters involving site remediation, cost recovery, insurance coverage, compliance and regulatory issues, natural resource damages and municipal land use law.
Prior to joining Frenkel, Meredith was a practicing attorney specializing in brownfield redevelopment, land use, regulatory compliance and complex environmental litigation. Meredith was responsible for obtaining and negotiating pollution legal liability policies for brownfield redevelopment projects, obtaining regulatory approvals and negotiating and drafting environmental indemnity provisions for redevelopment agreements. Meredith has represented insurance companies in complex multi-party and multi-site environmental and asbestos litigation matters. She has advocated insurance coverage positions in environmental declaratory actions, facilitated settlements with regulatory agencies on behalf of insurance industry clients and provided assistance to clients in interpreting policy provisions and exclusions in relation to applicable state case law.
Prior to attending law school, Meredith was an environmental consultant involved in the investigation and remediation of contaminated residential, commercial and industrial sites. Meredith performed risk assessments for applications and renewals for general liability coverage. Meredith conducted numerous due diligence and preliminary site investigations for industrial sites primarily located within the Northeast as well as sites nationwide and conducted sampling of various media, including soils, groundwater, surface water and sediment. Meredith provided regulatory support to both national and international industrial facilities, including interpretation of federal, state, local and provincial regulations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Meredith was selected to Super Lawyers and recognized as a New Jersey Rising Star 2008. The American Bar Association, Section of the Environment, Energy, and Resources, published an article co-authored by Meredith, “New Jersey Court Rules on Challenge to State’s Natural Resource Damages Initiative” in its Superfund and Natural Resource Damages Litigation Committee Newsletter, August 2004.
Meredith is active in several environmental organizations, including the New Jersey State and American Bar Associations, the National Brownfield Associations, New Jersey Technical Regulations Advisory Coalition, the Society of Women Environmental Professionals and the Environmental Business Council of New Jersey.
Meredith holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Denver and a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall Law School.
